French luxury house Chanel has released a teaser for Karl Lagerfeld’s new short film ‘Once Upon A Time’. A 45-second clip released by Chanel shows a hint of what we can expect from the new film by the brand’s creative director Karl Lagerfeld.
Cast as Gabrielle ‘Coco’ Chanel, we see British star Keira Knightly packing Chanel hatboxes and chatting away in black and white celluloid glory.
Thirty-three-year old French actress Clotilde Hesme co-stars as Coco’s aunt and confidante Adrienne, and the film was apparently improvised, with the stars making up their lines as they went along.
First announced back in March, the film celebrates the brand’s centenary by taking a look at the first ever store (financed by Chanel’s lover Arthur ‘Boy’ Capel), in the seaside resort of Deauville in 1913.
American model Lindsey Wixon makes an appearance in the teaser wearing a glamorous hat. She will be joined in the full film by Stella Tennant and Saskia De Brauw as well as male model Brad Kroenig and his four-year-old son Hudson.
No newcomer to the world of Chanel, young Hudson has already walked in shows for the brand (it might help that his godfather is none other than Mr Lagerfeld himself).
The film is set to get its full premiere on May 8 on the Chanel News site to coincide with the Chanel ‘Cruise’ resort presentation in Singapore.
